PALM HARBOR, FL – (November 16, 2022) – Geographic Solutions, the nation’s leading provider of software solutions for workforce development, unemployment insurance, corrections, education, human services, and labor market information, is proud to announce they have been named a finalist for ’Tech Project of the Year’ for the 19th Annual Tampa Bay Tech Awards.

The nonprofit technology council named 15 finalists in six different award categories, spotlighting local emerging tech leaders and companies who are creating impact and driving change.

Geographic Solutions was named a finalist for one of their most recent and largest projects to date. In December 2021, the company partnered with the Nebraska Department of Labor to launch unemployment tax functionality within the state’s existing NEworks (neworks.nebraska.gov) system. The newly upgraded NEworks system now includes functionality for labor exchange, labor market information, unemployment benefits, appeals, and tax in one complete solution – solidifying the system as the first and only system of its kind in the country.

Tampa Bay Tech’s Software CEO Council Kicks Off 2021 With Roundtable And Commitment To Local Charity

Last month, Tampa Bay Tech’s Software CEO Council (TBSC) met to discuss the ongoing issues so many CEOs are experiencing, including the safe return to work-spaces and the challenges of continuing to attract, recruit and retain top tech talent.

Hosted by Tampa Bay Tech, TBSC meets quarterly to discuss business challenges in a confidential, CEO-only environment. In their last virtual gathering the group discussed regional challenges and talked about ideas to attract more skilled talent to the area. They also discussed benefits of, and ways to, raise awareness of the concentration of cyber technology and IT integrators in our region. An integral part of the group’s charter is an annual commitment to support a local charity, and at this meeting Computer Mentors was selected.

Geographic Solutions Awarded 2020 Tech Project Of The Year For Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Effort

PALM HARBOR, FL (November 13, 2020) - Geographic Solutions was awarded the 2020 Tech Project of the Year during the 17th Annual Tampa Bay Tech Awards, broadcast via live stream on Thursday, November 12. The virtual ceremony, produced by Tampa Bay Tech (TBT), honored the individuals and organizations leading the way in the industry throughout the Tampa Bay region. TBT is a non-profit organization dedicated to building and fostering a radically connected technology community.

The 2020 Tech Project of the Year Award recognized Geographic Solutions’ massive effort to launch a record number of UI/PUA systems in the midst of a global pandemic. President and Founder Paul Toomey graciously accepted the award by video, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the employees at Geographic Solutions.

The Geographic Solutions team responded to the national crisis by rapidly adapting the software for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to process Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims. PUA functionality first debuted in Louisiana just eight days after the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed. The company also managed complex interfaces, provided round-the-clock communication with clients, installed and balanced massive new servers, staffed a 24-hour tech support hub, and fielded claimant inquiries via live chat and social media.

Between April and June, Geographic Solutions launched PUA functionality in 10 states and U.S. territories. Year to date, Geographic Solutions has been involved in the payment of over $40 Billion in funds across all unemployment and PUA systems that the company supports. Equally important as the aid provided, preventative security measures flagged and detected over $11.5 Billion in fraudulent claims – preserving federal and state trust funds.
