Geographic Solutions Holds Largest Workforce Technology Conference to Date

PALM HARBOR, FL – (October 10, 2022) – After two years of virtual conferences, Geographic Solutions recently welcomed workforce development, unemployment insurance, labor market information, human services, and education professionals in person to the 2022 Workforce Technology Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida. This year’s record-breaking attendance totaled close to 300 attendees, representing 38 states and 109 distinct agencies. In addition to the regular conference schedule, a group of 96 attendees participated in pre-conference training on new features, reporting, and labor market tools in VOS Sapphire.

The 2022 conference marked the largest in terms of attendance – bringing professionals from all across the country and beyond, including as far as Ireland and the Northern Mariana Islands. The 2022 conference agenda featured a variety of general sessions, panel discussions, and at times, up to six breakout tracks at once.

Industry leaders and Geographic Solutions subject matter experts presented on a variety of topics, with a focus on the integration of federal workforce programs. Session topics included unemployment insurance, labor market data, case management, student career solutions, legislative updates, no-touch solutions, reentry employment initiatives, federal reporting, best practices, and more.

In addition, attendees had the chance to network with state and local agencies from around the country, as well as participate in real-time voting and roundtable discussions on the future of the Geographic Solutions' product line. The 2022 conference also welcomed back popular emcee, Rusty Kath, for the fifth year and featured CEO of The Center of Work Ethic Development, Josh Davies, who delivered an inspiring keynote address on embracing change and building a successful workforce.

Prospective Students Can Now Comparison Shop for Job Training on the Employ Florida Marketplace

Florida residents interested in obtaining new job skills, certifications or degrees can now compare training providers and programs on the Employ Florida Marketplace. The Employ Florida Marketplace has added new Consumer Reports Services (CRS) functionality on July 18, 2013, making the training comparison data available to all users. The services are offered to users free-of-cost at the Employ Florida Marketplace (www.EmployFlorida.com).

Consumer Reports empowers individuals to collect and compare the offerings and completion performance of training providers and their respective programs, as well as provide access to reliable information. This includes the educational institution’s completion rate, placements, job retention, and earnings (achieved after training) for each training course. This information, along with staff guidance helps individuals to choose the best training programs and providers for their situation.

Individuals may rely on several forms of search criteria to locate desired training providers such as area, keyword, and provider type (2-year universities, 4-year universities, colleges, private business, technical schools, etc.). Provider ownership (private for-profit, private non-profit), WIA eligible status, and green jobs training is available.

Users may compare and contrast similar programs at the same institution or between different institutions. Jobseekers may also compare multiple programs’ completion rate, view a provider’s WIA eligibility, and identify programs defined as environmentally-friendly ‘Green Job’ occupations or ‘Bright Outlook’ occupation (occupations with extraordinary demand).

The CRS module was designed to meet the requirements of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). In addition to reviewing local training provider data, individuals can identify programs that are eligible under the WIA program for federally-funded training assistance.
