We know Workforce is in the name, but this conference is so much more than just workforce. Important Announcement Regarding 2020 Workforce Technology Conference

At Geographic Solutions, our primary focus is on the health, safety, and well-being of our clients, users, and employees. We have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation as it unfolds and we have come to the decision to reschedule the 2020 Workforce Technology Conference. The conference has officially been rescheduled for June 7-10, 2021 in Clearwater Beach, Florida. The host hotel will remain the Wyndham Grand Resort.

At this time, we would like to reach out to you to explain our plan moving forward and the options that are available to you as an attendee and/or speaker. For those of you who had already secured a registration to the 2020 Workforce Technology Conference, we thank you immensely for your plan to join us. Below are the alternatives that are available to you. Of course, if these scenarios do not work for you or your agency, we encourage you to contact us.

Registration (Option #1)

You may transfer your standing registration for the 2020 conference to the 2021 conference automatically. There will be no increase in registration cost (from year to year) and no need to re-submit a registration for 2021. We would also be flexible if your agency would need to switch out one attendee’s name for another (in the event that someone changes roles or agencies).

Registration (Option #2)

If agency funding restrictions do not allow you to transfer your registration to 2021, we will cancel your registration and issue you a full refund. If you have already remitted payment for your invoice, please email Candace Cobb at CCobb@geosolinc.com and we can work with you on processing your refund. If you have registered (and have yet to pay your invoice), please still inform us of your cancellation request. Please allow two days for our Accounting Team to complete your refund.

Travel and Hotel Bookings

Due to the current national emergency, the entire country is being restricted and/or limited in making travel arrangements. As a courtesy to our attendees who were booked to stay at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach Resort, all rooms associated with our room block will be automatically cancelled. Please be aware that the Wyndham will be issuing refunds for any processed fees to your credit card on file – as a result of a reservation hold.

If you choose to visit Clearwater Beach in June, the Wyndham Grand Resort has graciously offered to honor the contracted rate of $209/night plus tax. You will need to contact the hotel directly to rebook your room, referencing the Geographic Solutions 2020 Workforce Technology Conference room block. (The negotiated rate will only be honored for bookings that take place from June 14 - 18, 2020.)

If you made reservations with another nearby hotel or ancillary accommodation service, you will need to handle the cancellations on your own. If you already booked a plane ticket, most airlines seem to be flexible in rescheduling or canceling – and again, that would be up to you (or your travel department) to coordinate.

For those of you who were slated to present at this year’s conference, we would like to extend an invitation for you to speak at the 2021 conference. Over the next week, our team will be reaching out to you to coordinate this effort. We thank you for your willingness to contribute to our agenda, and we look forward to working with you in 2021, if your schedule allows.

Moving Forward

The wheels are in motion and we are already planning another stellar event for 2021. We can promise that by the time 2021 rolls around, we will have plenty of agenda content, exciting speakers, and cutting-edge functionality to present to you.

Geographic Solutions’ 11th Annual Workforce Technology Conference - the Biggest Conference to Date!

Geographic Solutions recently welcomed workforce development professionals from throughout the United States to the 11^th Annual Workforce Technology Conference in Clearwater Beach. This year’s attendee roster totaled 134, marking the largest attendance in conference history.

Attendees were welcomed to the area by City of Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos. The conference Keynote Speaker was author and career expert, Brooks Harper. Mr. Harper’s high-energy presentation, “Why Should We Hire You?” was both empowering and entertaining, giving attendees insight on how career seekers can discover, develop, and market their talents in the workplace.

Conference attendees participated in live demonstrations of Geographic Solutions’ workforce systems, including Virtual OneStop®, Virtual LMI, Geographic Solutions Unemployment System (GUS), Reemployment Exchange (REX), as well as a demonstration on the latest mobile app features. Over 45 attendees also participated in a full day of pre-conference training on Version 14 of Virtual OneStop.

In addition to an agenda packed with informative sessions, Geographic Solutions recognized several workforce boards and individuals during the conference’s Client Recognition Luncheon.

Catherine Lang, Director of the Nebraska Department of Labor, was presented the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution to Workforce Development’ award for her leadership and implementation of NEworks, the Nebraska job website and mobile app.

Additional awards included ‘Most Traffic to a Virtual OneStop Site’ to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for the Employ Florida Marketplace; ‘Most Traffic to a Virtual LMI Site’ to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment for the Colorado LMI Gateway; and ‘Most Innovative Workforce Application’ to the Louisiana Workforce Commission for the Helping Individuals Reach Employment (HiRE) site.

Santa Barbara INTER-LINK, San Luis Obispo Virtual OneStop, Riverside County Virtual OneStop, Tulare County Employment Connection, and the EmployRI Network Online were all recognized for five years of service. Virginia Workforce Connection and the Nhworks Job Match System were also recognized for 15 years of dedicated service utilizing Geographic Solutions’ workforce solutions.

Geographic Solutions' 9th Annual Workforce Technology Conference - The Biggest Conference Yet!

Geographic Solutions recently welcomed over 130 Workforce Development professionals from throughout the United States to the 9^th Annual Workforce Technology Conference in Clearwater Beach. This year’s attendee roster totaled 133, marking the largest attendance in conference history.

Attendees were welcomed to the area by City of Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos. The conference keynote speaker was author and motivational speaker, Scott Christopher. Mr. Christopher’s dynamic 90-minute presentation was warmly received by the conference attendees.

Conference attendees participated in live demonstrations of Geographic Solution’s workforce solutions, including Virtual OneStop®, Virtual LMI, Geographic Solutions Unemployment System (GUS), Reemployment Exchange (REX), as well as a ground-breaking Mobile App demonstration. Over 40 attendees also enjoyed a full day of pre-conference training on Virtual OneStop.

In addition to the informative sessions and highly-entertaining speakers, Geographic Solutions recognized several workforce boards and individuals during the conference’s Client Recognition Luncheon.

Mike Feerick, the CEO of ALISON Free Learning for Workplace Skills, was presented the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution to Workforce Development’ Award. ALISON has rapidly grown to have a presence in every country and has provided free online learning to over 100,000 graduates through their certificate and diploma programs.

Also, the Alabama Department of Economic/Community Affairs, Madera County (CA) Workforce Development Office, Mother Lode (CA) Workforce Investment Board, North Central Texas Workforce, and the San Benito County (CA) Workforce Investment Board were recognized for five years of dedicated service in workforce solutions.

Two clients were recognized for 10 years of service via their respective workforce solutions: Workforce Investment Board of Santa Cruz County (CA) and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

Workforce Development Pros Learn New Tricks At Conference

Over 100 Geographic Solutions customers attended our second annual User Conference on Clearwater Beach. "Integrating Workforce Development Systems in the 21st Century" was the theme of this years conference and our keynote speaker from Region 3 Department of Labor previewed WIA Reauthorization, Common Measures and EMILE for us.

Customers from 22 states attended sessions featuring nationally recognized speakers from our customer and partner organizations that included "LMI: the Latest and Greatest," to innovative youth programs in DC, workforce readiness certificates in Virginia, One Stop Certification and more. Technical presentations featured ALMIS 2.3, InfoUSA, and new scanning technology for tracking client participation. VOS Version 7.0 and its newest features were featured — especially job spidering and changes to make the system common measures ready. Of course, we had round table sessions for LMI users and to discuss enhancements for the future.

New this year were "brown bag lunch" work sessions which allowed small groups of customers to discuss topics of common interest with each other or attend in depth sessions with Geographic Solutions staff on topics like Content Publisher and Reporting.

A pre-conference training session focused on new tools available to job seekers, employers, and staff in Virtual OneStop Version 7.0.

Feedback was great from our speaker, our attendees, and our staff. The conference provided a great opportunity to learn from each other.
