Kansas Department of Labor Unveils T.O.T.O., a Cutting-Edge Career Exploration Platform

Geographic Solutions, in collaboration with the Labor Market Information (LMI) division of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL), has launched Today’s Occupations, Tomorrow’s Opportunities (T.O.T.O.), an innovative career exploration platform designed to help students and career changers navigate their professional paths.

“The launch of T.O.T.O. represents a significant step forward in empowering the next generation of workers in the state of Kansas,” said Labor Secretary Amber Shultz “Through our partnership with Geographic Solutions, we can better equip students and career changers with advanced career exploration tools that will help them make informed decisions about their professional futures.” Governor Laura Kelly added, “I am thrilled to support the launch of T.O.T.O. and am confident this new platform will help Kansans find meaningful careers. By investing in an updated, engaging, and comprehensive career exploration platform, we are showing our commitment to building a strong workforce in Kansas.”

Powered by Geographic Solutions’ Virtual Career Center (VCC) software solution, T.O.T.O. offers self-service tools to help individuals explore their interests, develop their career paths, and find quality employment opportunities in Kansas. Facilitators will gain access to specially curated worksheets and guides that offer direction on career development, job searching strategies, and interview preparation. Wizard of Jobs – Reality Check: Helps users estimate the salary needed for their desired lifestyle, bridging the gap between financial planning and career decision-making.

In this role, Aderele will work in close partnership with Geographic Solutions’ Education Services and Marketing teams to conduct product demonstrations and contribute to the development of marketing collateral and proposals. She will also provide insight and direction for the company’s Virtual Career Center (VCC) solution, a powerful, web-based career services platform that delivers full self-service functionality to engage students in career development.

Aderele earned an M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Florida State University.

Geographic Solutions Announces the Launch of Yolo Works Virtual OneStop Version 11.1

Jobseekers and employers in Yolo County will have an even more enhanced tool at their disposal to assist them in finding suitable jobs, locating training opportunities and identifying skilled candidates. Version 11.1 of the Yolo County Virtual OneStop® will launch November 2011, providing universal access to online services for individuals seeking jobs and employers seeking employees. All of the services provided are available at no charge to Job seekers and employers. The website for Yolo Works is www.yoloworks.org.

Version 11.1 of Yolo Works will provide users with a wide array of employment-related services. Job seekers will be able to search for available jobs using a search engine that aggregates jobs from company and government websites, newspaper postings and corporate job boards. Job searches can be conducted for a radius of a zip code, by city or county, by metropolitan or workforce area, or on a statewide basis. Job seekers will be able to search for training opportunities within the system and employers can have access to recent training graduates. Employers can search for talent and rank the candidates using the automated system.

Virtual OneStop® will provide Labor Market Information and skill requirements for the job listed. Job seekers can develop resumes and cover letters and then submit them directly to the employer online. Job seekers will now be able to search for 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act initiatives such as Green Jobs, Veteran-preferred jobs, Summer Youth, etc. Version 11.1 can also be configured to integrate with our UI benefits functionality.

Occupations that are identified as O*NET Green Occupations, are now indicated with an icon in Virtual OneStop and Virtual LMI, similarly how high-demand and Bright Outlook occupations are. The templates available for resumes have also been enhanced to include a Federal format option, which can be used when applying for government jobs.

Version 11.1 will provide staff with the most cutting-edge job matching and referral system. All services provided to employers or job seekers, whether self-service or staff-assisted, will be accounted for and used to improve agency performance and regional economic growth initiatives. Case Managers can also enter and track individuals’ financial aid, budgeting, employment plans, training attendance and WIA case management. Version 11.1 also brings a plethora of newly added staff alert notification/subscriptions.
