Information Used by the Mobile Applications

 

The mobile applications provide access to workforce and employment-related services. Depending on the application and services available, the information processed by the mobile applications may include:

 

  • Account information, such as username and authentication information.

  • Personal information maintained in the VOS system, such as first and last name, address, telephone number, and email address.

  • Employment and education information, including employment history, education history, resume information, and job application information.

  • Documents and files that users choose to access, upload, or submit.

  • Photos or images that users choose to capture or select through supported application features.

  • Appointment and message information associated with workforce services.

  • Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, application version, IP address, and information related to application errors or crashes.

The mobile applications do not display or collect Social Security numbers.

Personal information such as a user's name, address, telephone number, or email address may have been previously provided through the VOS website. The mobile application may retrieve and display this information when needed for features such as creating or managing a resume.

 

How the Information Is Used

 

The information processed through the mobile applications is used to provide the workforce and employment-related services requested by the user. These services may include:

  • Searching for available jobs.

  • Creating and managing resumes.

  • Viewing employment and education history.

  • Applying for jobs.

  • Managing documents.

  • Managing appointments.

  • Accessing messages through the Message Center.

  • Accessing other workforce-related services provided by the applicable agency.

When a user applies for a job, information included in the user's application or resume may be provided to the applicable employer as part of the application process.

Information may also be used to authenticate users, maintain application and system security, troubleshoot errors, monitor application performance, and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

 

Information Stored in VOS

 

The mobile applications communicate with Geographic Solutions systems through application programming interfaces ("APIs"). Information accessed or submitted through the mobile applications is transmitted to and processed by the applicable VOS systems.

The mobile application does not maintain a separate workforce-services record. Information displayed by the mobile application may originate from information already maintained in VOS.

 

Unemployment Insurance Services

 

Certain applications provide access to unemployment insurance claim services. Where available, these screens are presented within the mobile application using web views of the VOS website.

Activity performed through these screens is processed and recorded by VOS in accordance with the applicable workforce agency's processes and requirements. The mobile application provides access to the VOS functionality but does not maintain a separate unemployment insurance claim record.

 

Camera, Photos, and Documents

 

Certain applications allow users to use their device's camera, select photos, or upload documents.

These capabilities are accessed only when the user chooses to use a feature that requires them, such as submitting a photo or document through the application.

 

Security

 

Geographic Solutions uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

The mobile applications use security measures to protect communications with authorized services, including certificate pinning. Access to confidential information is restricted to authorized personnel and entities with a legitimate need to access the information.

Although we take reasonable measures to protect information, no method of transmitting or storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

 

Geographic Access Restrictions

 

The mobile applications and associated services are intended for use within the United States. Access is restricted based on geographic location, and the applications are not intended to be accessible or used from outside the United States.

The IP address and other technical information may be used to enforce geographic access restrictions and maintain application security.

 

Guest Access

 

Where available, users may access certain basic job and career information as a guest without registering.

Registration may be required to apply for positions, create or manage a resume, or access personalized workforce services. Guest functionality varies by application.

 

Information Sharing

 

Access to confidential information is restricted to authorized personnel, organizations, and entities that require access to provide workforce, employment, administrative, technical, or security services.

Information may be shared when necessary to:

  • Provide services requested by the user.

  • Process job applications and provide authorized information to employers.

  • Perform authorized functions on behalf of the applicable workforce agency.

  • Operate and maintain the applications and associated systems.

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal requirements.

  • Prevent fraud, unauthorized access, or other unlawful activity.

Geographic Solutions does not sell personal information collected through the mobile applications.

 

Applicable Laws

 

The collection, use, and disclosure of information may be governed by applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and workforce-program requirements, including, where applicable:

  • 42 U.S.C. § 405(c)(2)(C) — Social Security Act

  • 5 U.S.C. § 552a — Privacy Act of 1974

  • 5 U.S.C. § 552 — Freedom of Information Act

  • 29 U.S.C. § 49 et seq. — Federal Employment Service

Additional federal or state privacy, security, workforce, and employment laws may apply depending on the application and services provided.

 

Unauthorized Access

 

Unauthorized attempts to access, modify, upload, delete, or otherwise interfere with the applications or associated systems are prohibited and may be subject to civil or criminal penalties under applicable law.

 

Changes to This Privacy Policy

 

Geographic Solutions may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our applications, services, legal requirements, or privacy and security practices.

The current version of this Privacy Policy will be posted at this URL with the applicable effective or last-updated date.
