Geographic Solutions recently welcomed workforce development professionals from throughout the United States to the 11th Annual Workforce Technology Conference in Clearwater Beach. This year’s attendee roster totaled 134, marking the largest attendance in conference history.

Attendees were welcomed to the area by City of Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos. The conference Keynote Speaker was author and career expert, Brooks Harper. Mr. Harper’s high-energy presentation, “Why Should We Hire You?” was both empowering and entertaining, giving attendees insight on how career seekers can discover, develop, and market their talents in the workplace.

Conference attendees participated in live demonstrations of Geographic Solutions’ workforce systems, including Virtual OneStop®, Virtual LMI, Geographic Solutions Unemployment System (GUS), Reemployment Exchange (REX), as well as a demonstration on the latest mobile app features. Over 45 attendees also participated in a full day of pre-conference training on Version 14 of Virtual OneStop.

In addition to an agenda packed with informative sessions, Geographic Solutions recognized several workforce boards and individuals during the conference’s Client Recognition Luncheon.

Catherine Lang, Director of the Nebraska Department of Labor, was presented the prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution to Workforce Development’ award for her leadership and implementation of NEworks, the Nebraska job website and mobile app.

Additional awards included ‘Most Traffic to a Virtual OneStop Site’ to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for the Employ Florida Marketplace; ‘Most Traffic to a Virtual LMI Site’ to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment for the Colorado LMI Gateway; and ‘Most Innovative Workforce Application’ to the Louisiana Workforce Commission for the Helping Individuals Reach Employment (HiRE) site.

Santa Barbara INTER-LINK, San Luis Obispo Virtual OneStop, Riverside County Virtual OneStop, Tulare County Employment Connection, and the EmployRI Network Online were all recognized for five years of service. Virginia Workforce Connection and the Nhworks Job Match System were also recognized for 15 years of dedicated service utilizing Geographic Solutions’ workforce solutions.

Geographic Solutions will host the 12th Annual Workforce Technology Conference in Monterey, CA in 2015.
