Nebraska job seekers and employers now have a new tool at their disposal to assist them in finding suitable jobs, locating training opportunities and identifying skilled candidates. Launched on February 17, 2011, the state-of-the-art NEworks Virtual OneStop® provides universal access to online services for individuals seeking jobs and employers seeking employees.

“NEworks bridges the connection between employers and jobseekers, with specific emphasis on connecting students and graduates with employer needs in targeted, high-skilled occupations,” said Richard Baier, Director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

Created from the Nebraska Department of Labor and the Department of Economic Development, the new NEworks site will allow job seekers to search over 20,000 active real-time jobs available across the state.

“Instead of navigating a smaller pool of jobs on multiple sites, our site subscribes to all other search engines,” said Labor Commissioner Lang. “Jobseekers can now access listings from other employment sites, such as Monster, CareerBuilder, government and corporate websites, and newspaper job postings through the easy-to-use portal.”

The new site is built upon Virtual OneStop® Version 11 functionality which will provide staff with the most cutting-edge job matching and referral system. All services provided to employers or job seekers, whether self-service or staff-assisted, will be accounted for and used to improve agency performance and regional economic growth initiatives. Case Managers can also enter and track individuals’ financial aid, budgeting, employment plans, training attendance and WIA case management.

NEworks will provide users with a wide array of employment-related services at no charge to the jobseekers and employer. Jobseekers can utilize employment tools to create cover letters, build or import resumes, receive a list of available jobs via email or text notifications, and apply for jobs directly to the employer online. Job searches can be conducted by zip code, city, county, metropolitan or workforce area, or on a statewide basis. Jobseekers will be able to search for training opportunities within the system and employers can have access to recent training graduates. Employers can search for talent and rank the candidates using the automated Virtual Recruiter system.

NEworks also provides Labor Market Information and skill requirements for the job listed. Job seekers will now be able to search for 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act initiatives such as Green Jobs, Veteran-Preferred jobs, Summer Youth, etc. Version 11 also manages innovative employment programs such as unemployment insurance, welfare transition and aid in monitoring economic growth initiatives for the State of Nebraska.
